The Dave Sagor Project

The Dave Sagor Project

Dave Sagor was a career military man, serving in both the Air Force and then the Army. He was fiercely patriotic, could talk for hours about military history, told the absolute worst dad jokes, was wicked smart, and had a razor sharp sense of humor. He also loved to help people. The Dave Sagor Project allows us to honor his memory, the life he loved, and show that, even now, he’s still making a difference. This is our way of sharing him with you and keeping his name alive in the world.

Veteran focused organizations

SFC Sagor was very proud of his military service. While overseas, we would often have young G.I.s over for dinner. Around the holidays, even being half a world away from their families, it was important to him that they still had the experience of a big family dinner. He loved taking care of people and looking after other soldiers was one of the things I remember vividly about him while I was growing up. It has been our honor to partner with organizations that support veterans, such as Operation Battle Buddies and Leashes of Valor. These organizations provide service dogs and training at no expense to the veteran. By donating vests and wraps, we are able to support organizations that are looking after some of our veterans that need it most.

Child focused causes

My father also loved children. We had a very large family ourselves but he was also passionate about children in need.  He used to talk about how he wanted to go on a trip to Africa and work at an orphanage that took care of terminally ill children. Or we when we lived in Germany he had us gather toys that we wanted to donate and we took them to a nearby refugee camp to give a Nigerian family that had the same number of kids as us. In his memory we have partnered with a breeder that donates a puppy each year to be trained for a child that needs a service dog and a teen lead project that creates care packages for chronically ill young people.

All of our previous efforts have been to support organizations or causes that already have their own screening processes. We did not want to be in a position that required us to verify any information. We are branching away from this a little in our most recent project:

Uniform Vests

We were recently approached about making a vest from the uniform of a combat veteran. Most veterans are fiercely proud of the branch they served in and showing their pride is an important way to honor their service. While each branch of the military requires a license to use their name or logo on an item that is being sold, if I was donating the item, these could be used without the license. When possible, we use patches from the uniform and try to color match our stitching to match. Please contact us for more information.
